Great result for Player at Sale

The lightly raced but emerging stayer Great Player confirmed his liking for rain affected going at Sale on Thursday July 1st with a dominant all the way win in the Showcase 0-68 1713 metre event.

After drawing awkwardly in barrier 14, the son of Galileo was aided by a heady ride from Daniel Moor who had his mount coasting outside the leader when the field settled before allowing him to stride to the front mid race and kick clear entering the straight, giving his opposition no chance to reel him in.

Both Moor and trainer Grant Craven were quick to praise the work done by Great Player's regular track rider Nathan Dunn who has worked wonders keeping the headstrong gelding in check.

Great Player, a winner of 2 races on heavy tracks could be in for a fruitful campaign if wet conditions continue to be on offer throughout Victoria in the coming months.
